Our Origins

The journey began in 2002 when entrepreneur Richard Osborne founded Quick Formations, an award-winning company registration agent which quickly grew to one of the largest company formation providers in the UK. Recognising the potential of technology to revolutionise business startups, Richard developed an online platform that seamlessly integrated with Companies House, streamlining the company formation process for entrepreneurs across the UK. This technological advancement not only garnered industry accolades but also set new standards for efficiency and user experience in company registrations.

Evolution into eFiling

In January 2008, building upon the success of Quick Formations, Richard Osborne launched eFiling as an independent entity. This strategic move allowed for a dedicated focus on enhancing and expanding the platform’s capabilities without any conflicts of interest. The technology behind eFiling, originally developed for Quick Formations, was transferred and further refined to serve a broader audience other UK company formation agents, banks, and wider business service providers. This evolution marked a significant milestone, positioning eFiling as a central hub for company startup services in the UK.

Quick Formations was subsequently sold and remained a customer of eFiling for many years before ultimately settling under the ownership of international legal services company Dye & Durham.

Richard Osborne, is the Managing Director of eFiling. He is also no stranger to developing online platforms, having developed and sold one of the UK’s largest domain name registration and reseller platforms in the late 1990’s. Richard has occasionally been known to engage on Twitter @RichardOsborne.

In March 2014 eFiling gained two new non-executive board members who bring with them valuable strengths to continue to drive eFiling forward as a powerful platform for the industry. They share the same vision and values for the company that has brought eFiling to where it is so far and look forward to an exciting future going forward.

Ben Heald is the Chairman of the eFiling board. He was one of the founders of Sift in 1996 and became the CEO in 2002. He launched AccountingWEB in 1997, now one of the largest online professional publishing businesses, and has been involved in launching all Sift’s businesses since then. This has given him a wide range of experience launching products, raising money, recruiting teams, managing staff and digital marketing. He’s also had to make the difficult transition from founder to CEO. In the latter role, he’s guided Sift through two protracted industry down-turns, whilst maintaining the company’s growth. Ben also partakes on Twitter occasionally as @BHeald.

Adrian Eaglestone is a qualified accountant who also holds a Masters in Mathematics. He began his career at KPMG before moving to corporate finance in the telecommunications sector. Adrian has since spent the last 14 years holding various directorship responsibilities from Finance, Managing and Non-Executive Director roles in a number of Venture Capital and Private Equity backed businesses. These included such brands as uSwitch where, as the Finance Director, he played a vital role in taking the company from a concept through to a reality by securing funding for growth. More recently Adrian has been Managing Director of GL Education, a leading international digital assessment provider to the education sector. Here he was recognised as being instrumental in creating a more entrepreneurial business, primarily through changing the focus of the Group from product-driven sales to the provision of complete solutions for customers.

Supporting the management team is a team of dedicated and gifted individuals, some who have worked with Richard for a number of years. It is the fantastic cohesion of excellent personalities that creates a fantastic team which drives forward a brilliant product.
